"Trust Us with Your Child"
General Households Preschool Children 1,744 KRW per Hour
Single-Parent, Disabled Parent, and Disabled Child Families 1,163 KRW per Hour
On the 24th, Paju City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it has entrusted the Paju Family Center to operate the ‘Childcare Support Project,’ where childcare providers directly visit and provide care services to children under 12 years old in families experiencing childcare gaps due to dual-income households and other reasons.
The childcare service consists of ▲ hourly ▲ full-day ▲ support for children with infectious diseases ▲ institutional linkage ▲ emergency and short-term care services. The service fees vary depending on the type of service, the number of children, and the household income level, according to the government support categories (‘Type A to C’).
For example, in the ‘Hourly Basic’ service, general households with preschool children who are classified as ‘Type A’ (household income below 75% of the median income) receive 85% government support on the basic fee of 11,630 KRW, resulting in an actual fee of 1,744 KRW per hour (15%). For single-parent families, families with disabled parents or children, and teenage parent families, the fee is 1,163 KRW (10%).
In the ‘Childcare Service - Hourly Basic’ category, the ‘childcare provider’ visits the user’s home to perform various care services such as temporary childcare, play activities, and providing prepared meals and snacks. The ‘Childcare Service - Hourly Comprehensive’ includes all activities of the basic service plus additional household chores related to the child, such as organizing the child’s laundry and play area.
To use the childcare service, applicants must visit the local administrative welfare center or apply through the Bokjiro website to receive a government support rating (‘Type A’ to ‘Type C’), then register on the childcare service website, obtain full membership approval from the Paju Family Center, and go through the process of connecting with a childcare provider.
The Paju Family Center’s childcare team has increased the number of childcare providers by about 40 this year to reduce the average waiting period for services, which typically takes 1 to 3 months.
A Paju city official stated, “We will strive to provide the best environment for both childcare workers and users to reduce the childcare burden on more families and improve the quality of life for family members.”
