Easily Introducing Asset Building Support Projects to Vulnerable Groups with Difficult Access to Welfare Information
On the 24th, Paju City in Gyeonggi announced that it has published the 4th edition of the ‘Gagahoho Welfare News’ targeting about 150 new livelihood benefit recipients and others to improve access to welfare information for digitally vulnerable groups.
‘Gagahoho’ is a project designed to provide welfare information proactively by making welfare systems easy to understand at a glance. Until last month, it was delivered by mail to over 1,200 recipients.
The 4th edition introduces the Asset Formation Support Project. This project targets working benefit recipients, near-poverty households, and youth from households below the median income standard. If they save a fixed amount monthly ranging from 100,000 to 500,000 KRW for three years, the government adds additional support funds and pays out a lump sum.
Kwon Ye-ja, Director of Welfare Support Division, said, “So far, through the 3rd edition of Gagahoho, Paju City has focused on preventing welfare leakage by introducing benefit recipient selection criteria, benefits, and self-support work projects. We will continue to do our best to eliminate welfare blind spots by providing useful information.”
A Paju City official stated, "The Asset Formation Support Project has different maturity payment conditions and recruitment periods depending on the project. Participation may be restricted based on individual conditions such as involvement in similar asset formation projects. Therefore, we recommend consulting through the Asset Formation Support Call Center before applying."
