A contract employee at Boryeong City Hall in South Chungcheong Province was dismissed on charges of assaulting a colleague after a departmental dinner. Another contract employee who participated in the assault reportedly received a severe disciplinary action.
According to an Asia Economy report on the 24th, employee A, a contract worker at Boryeong City Hall, recently assaulted employee B after a departmental gathering. It was also revealed that another contract worker, employee C, was involved in the assault alongside A.
On the 22nd, the city held a disciplinary committee meeting, resulting in A's dismissal and a three-month suspension for C as a severe disciplinary measure.
The specific reasons why A and C assaulted B have not been disclosed.
In particular, it was revealed that C was recently involved in a controversy related to a bid in the waterworks department.
The city has decided to suspend the dismissal of A for one month, after which the dismissal will be finalized if A does not file an objection.
A city official stated, "We plan to impose a one-month dismissal suspension on A before finalizing the action," and added, "C has been suspended for three months as a disciplinary measure."
