Joint Patrol by Volunteer Crime Prevention Unit, District Office, and Dongdaemun Police Station on 21st and 22nd
Four Patrol Activities Including Cheongnyangni Station and Baebongsan Mountain Scheduled Until November
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Ilpyeong Lee) announced that on the 21st and 22nd, a joint patrol involving civilians, government, and police was conducted to monitor crime-prone areas within the district.
Since last year, the district has been implementing joint patrols with civilians, government, and police to alleviate residents' anxiety caused by abnormal motive crimes and to strengthen crime prevention activities.
The recent patrol included participation from Dongdaemun-gu Autonomous Administration Division, the Volunteer Crime Prevention Unit, and the Crime Prevention Response Division of Dongdaemun Police Station.
Over the two days, more than 40 people, including Mayor Ilpyeong Lee, participated, patrolling on foot around university areas and the Jangan-dong district to check on residents' safety.
Especially on the 22nd, despite the rain, about 20 people carefully patrolled the dark autumn streets. In November, joint patrols are also scheduled around Cheongnyangni Station, Baebongsan, and Jungnangcheon areas.
The Dongdaemun-gu Volunteer Crime Prevention Unit is a voluntary organization composed of 427 members across 15 battalions. While engaged in their livelihoods, they voluntarily carry out various volunteer activities such as night patrols, youth guidance, and participation in various campaigns to create a safer Dongdaemun-gu.
Mayor Ilpyeong Lee expressed, "I deeply appreciate the Volunteer Crime Prevention Unit and the police station for actively participating in this joint patrol," adding, "I hope the joint patrol by civilians, government, and police will reduce residents' anxiety and greatly help in crime prevention. We will continue to do our best to make Dongdaemun-gu a safe place."
