Prosecutors conducting investigation without detention
A man in his 20s wanted for violating the Military Service Act fell from the fifth floor while attempting to escape through a bathroom window when prosecutors' investigators raided his home.
According to the prosecution and fire authorities on the 23rd, a report was received around 12:40 PM on the 21st that a man, identified as A, had fallen at a one-room building in Namyangju City.
A, who fell from the fifth floor, is a man in his late 20s who was indicted on charges of evading military service but was wanted for failing to appear in court. At the time of the incident, two investigators from the Uijeongbu District Prosecutors' Office Namyangju Branch were visiting the one-room apartment to arrest A; one was knocking on the door while the other was waiting outside the building.
After hearing the knocking, A attempted to exit through the bathroom window but fell to the ground from the fifth floor. He was immediately transported to a hospital for treatment and is currently reported to be in stable condition.
The prosecution stated that it is difficult to disclose specific details about the incident or the charges against A, and considering the extent of his injuries, the investigation is being conducted without detention.
