Designing the Future Based on Understanding Organizational Culture

Pocheon City Holds 2024 New Public Officials Workshop Baek Young-hyun, Mayor of Pocheon City, attended the "2024 New Public Officials Organizational Culture Adaptation Workshop" held over two days from the 21st to the 22nd for 86 new public officials of Pocheon City in 2024, delivering a greeting.

Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 23rd that it held the "2024 New Public Officials Organizational Culture Adaptation Workshop" for 86 new public officials of Pocheon City over two days from the 21st to the 22nd.


This workshop was organized to help new public officials adapt to the public service community by fostering a culture of communication and cooperation, based on a deep understanding of Pocheon City's organizational culture.


On the first day of the workshop, participants explored their envisioned future and organizational culture based on Pocheon City's unique organizational culture norm called the "Culture Deck (Subtitle: The right way)." Through this, new public officials shared the values and vision that Pocheon City pursues and learned the importance of communication and cooperation necessary for public service life.


Following this, a real-time communication meeting with Mayor Baek Young-hyun was held. New public officials used smartphones to anonymously ask questions and exchange dialogue with the mayor about their expectations and the mayor’s daily life.


Mayor Baek Young-hyun responded to the new officials' questions, continuing an honest conversation by conveying the qualities required of public officials as well as Pocheon City's philosophy and vision.


On the following day, the new public officials carried out team missions while exploring the beautiful natural environment and tourist sites around the Hantan River area, including the Hantan River Garden Festa Festival and the Y-shaped Suspension Bridge. Through cooperation, the officials solved problems and achieved goals, fostering teamwork and reinforcing the basics of communication necessary for public service life.


A Pocheon City official stated, "We hope this workshop served as an opportunity to enhance new public officials’ understanding of Pocheon City’s organizational culture and to help them experience the value of communication and cooperation, enabling smooth adaptation to the public service community." The official added, "We will continue to focus on renewing the organizational culture by providing various educational programs to help public officials adapt well to the organization."
