Gangseo-gu, Seoul announced on the 23rd that Jin Gyo-hoon, the district mayor elected in last year's by-election, held a ‘District Administration Performance and Vision Sharing Meeting’ to review the achievements of the past year since his inauguration and to present the future direction of district administration.
About 150 people, including heads of departments, divisions, and related officials, attended the vision sharing meeting held in the district office's underground situation room. In his greeting, Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “It was possible to concentrate administrative capabilities across the district because of the employees who diligently performed their duties in their respective positions over the past year,” adding, “I hope this meeting will be an opportunity to look back on the achievements so far and set the direction for the future.”
Since taking office in the 8th term of the civilian government, Mayor Jin has set the district administration vision as ‘A Future Together, Sharing Together in Gangseo’ and laid the foundation for promoting 99 detailed projects under five major district goals.
He newly organized an administrative structure encompassing balanced development, safety and security, future economy, welfare and health, and education and culture, and after reorganizing the organization, he is striving to fulfill the campaign promises made to residents.
Gangseo-gu cited the relaxation of height restrictions at Gimpo Airport and the redevelopment projects of aging residential areas as major achievements directly related to residents' lives. The district prepared the final application plan for Gimpo Airport according to the revised international standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and submitted it to the government and the National Assembly. In addition, redevelopment projects for regional balanced development are gaining momentum. Currently, a total of 10 sites have been selected for the Moa Town project, including Banghwa 2-dong and Gonghang-dong, of which 7 sites have been designated and announced, and the projects are underway.
Utilizing his expertise as a former police officer, Mayor Jin has also demonstrated capabilities in the safety sector. The district operates a 24-hour disaster safety situation room to monitor various disasters and accidents and responds promptly by coordinating with related agencies such as fire departments and police stations when situations occur. A comprehensive plan for preventing electric vehicle fires was established, and a full survey was conducted. The Magok Safety Experience Center was also created to allow residents to directly experience and prepare for disaster situations.
Efforts are also being made to create a new economic zone to revitalize the local economy. This project connects Gimpo Airport to the Magok MICE Industrial Complex, LG Arts Center, Seoul Botanical Garden, and CJ site, securing future growth engines for Gangseo-gu's development. Mayor Jin showed strong determination by choosing the CJ site building permit as his first approval after taking office. To activate the MICE industry, cooperative systems have been established through business agreements with major companies such as COEX and Lotte Construction.
He has also taken the lead in preparing measures to support victims suffering from jeonse fraud by conducting a full-scale survey of jeonse fraud cases and providing support for jeonse deposit return guarantee fees and litigation costs.
Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “We will continue to carry out field- and resident-centered administration,” and added, “Based on the visible achievements of the past year, we will do our best to successfully fulfill the campaign promises.”
