The KOSPI closed higher due to net buying by foreigners and institutions. Samsung Electronics rose more than 2%.
On the 23rd, the KOSPI closed at 2,599.62, up 28.92 points (1.12%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, foreigners and institutions net bought 211.1 billion KRW and 297.9 billion KRW respectively. Meanwhile, individuals net sold 511.6 billion KRW.
By sector, electricity and electronics jumped 3.28%. Manufacturing, steel and metals also rose more than 1%. Additionally, chemicals, medical precision, and service industries showed slight gains. On the other hand, telecommunications, construction, and distribution sectors fell more than 1%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics closed at 59,100 KRW, up 1,400 KRW (2.43%) from the previous trading day. SK Hynix rose 4.37%. LG Energy Solution surged 5.64%. Hyundai Motor and LG Chem also rose more than 2%. Conversely, Samsung C&T fell 2.06%. Celltrion closed slightly lower.
On this day, 450 stocks in the KOSPI rose without any hitting the upper limit, while 411 stocks declined without any hitting the lower limit. Seventy-six stocks were unchanged.
The KOSDAQ closed at 745.19, up 6.85 points (0.93%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, individuals net sold 92.5 billion KRW. In contrast, foreigners and institutions net bought 37.4 billion KRW and 61.0 billion KRW respectively.
By sector, non-metallic minerals rose 4.14%. Finance increased 3.12%. Meanwhile, pharmaceuticals, other services, textiles and apparel, and other manufacturing closed slightly lower.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Alteogen closed at 380,500 KRW, down 3,000 KRW (0.78%) from the previous trading day. Hugel and Samchundang Pharmaceutical fell more than 3%. On the other hand, HPSP surged 7.88%. EcoPro and EcoPro BM rose 4.71% and 3.51% respectively. Rino Industrial also closed up more than 4%.
In the KOSDAQ, Dreamus Company and iQure hit the upper limit, with 950 stocks rising. Meanwhile, 621 stocks declined without any hitting the lower limit, and 109 stocks closed unchanged.
