Changwon City in Gyeongnam Special City stated on the 23rd that the suspicion that a private individual planned the new national industrial complex is fake news.

Changwon Special City Mayor Hong Nampyo visited the site of the candidate location for the Changwon Defense and Nuclear Convergence National Industrial Complex in January this year.

Regarding the recent allegations raised by some media that a private individual planned and interfered in the selection of the new national industrial complex in Changwon, the city clarified that these claims are entirely false and are unilateral statements by an individual. They emphasized that such suspicions damage the sincere efforts Changwon City has devoted to carrying out all procedures directly and are clearly contrary to the facts.

Since the launch of the 8th elected administration, Changwon City has made all-out efforts to attract investment to prepare a foothold for the creation of a second national industrial complex ahead of the 50th anniversary of the existing national industrial complex. Mayor Hong Nam-pyo personally oversaw every step from preparing the basic plan, submitting proposals, conducting on-site inspections, presenting proposals, to the final candidate site selection, expressing a strong will to attract the project, resulting in the selection of the only national industrial complex candidate site in Gyeongnam.

Meanwhile, Changwon Special City has recently signed a basic agreement for the Changwon Defense and Nuclear National Industrial Complex and has entered full-scale project promotion.

Changwon City plans to cooperate with joint project implementers LH and Gyeongnam Development Corporation to promptly carry out follow-up procedures such as preliminary feasibility studies, establishment and approval of the national industrial complex plan, and proceed with the project without any hesitation.
