Collaboration Between Agricultural Technology Center, Rural Development Administration, and Pear Integrated Organization
Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province is promoting the entry of the domestically developed pear variety 'Shinhwa Bae' into the premium fruit market in Singapore through public-private cooperation.
On the 23rd, Anseong City announced that it has prepared plans to pioneer the Singapore market and support exports through cooperation among the Anseong Agricultural Technology Center, the Rural Development Administration, and the integrated pear organization.

Through this cooperation, the Anseong Agricultural Technology Center will organize and operate a export complex of local farmers producing the 'Shinhwa' pear variety, while collaborating with the Rural Development Administration to provide customized technical support to farmers from cultivation to post-harvest management. The 'Pear Integrated Organization,' which includes pear farmers, horticultural cooperatives, and distribution companies, plans to support export promotions starting next year to continuously enter premium stores in Singapore.
The city's push to enter the Singapore market is a strategic response to the decline in cultivation area and the focus on specific varieties such as 'Shingo,' which has caused fresh fruit exports to stagnate since 2020. Currently, 80% of pear exports are concentrated in the United States and Taiwan. The Chinese market is facing difficulties in exports due to overheated competition. Accordingly, the city’s plan is to pioneer markets such as Singapore with a premium strategy to find a breakthrough.
Lee Sang-in, director of the Anseong Agricultural Technology Center, said, "Various institutions have joined forces to take a meaningful first step to improve the quality of the domestically developed Shinhwa pear variety," adding, "We will actively support Anseong pears to establish a foothold in the global market."
