HDC Hyundai Development Company Opens 'Symphony Small Library' in Gwangju

Opening of Symphony Small Library Branch No. 17
Scheduled to open in Seoul, Cheonan, Daejeon, and other locations within the year

HDC Hyundai Development Company announced on the 23rd that it has opened the 17th Symphony Small Library at the Nongsung Bityeoulchae Comprehensive Social Welfare Center in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.

The Symphony Small Library is a social contribution activity by HDC Hyundai Development Company that practices sharing with the local community through books. Attendees at the opening ceremony of the 17th branch included Kim Geontae, director of the Nongsung Bityeoulchae Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, and Jeong Hanhyo, site manager of HDC Hyundai Development Company’s A1 site.


Volunteer activities involving HDC Hyundai Development Company employees were also conducted. On that day, employees from the A1 Promotion Team participated in daily librarian duties such as organizing books and cleaning both inside and outside the facility.


HDC Hyundai Development Company plans to open additional Symphony Small Libraries in regions such as Seoul, Daejeon, and Cheonan within the year, expanding up to the 20th branch.


The Symphony Small Library started with its first branch in Gunsan, Jeonbuk in 2014, and over the past 10 years has opened branches nationwide in places including Mungyeong, Gyeongbuk; Miryang, Gyeongnam; Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi; Yongsan, Dongdaemun, and Guro in Seoul; Geoje, Gyeongnam; Buk-gu, Gangseo-gu, and Seo-gu in Busan; and Seosan, Chungnam. In September, a business agreement was also signed with Cheongju City to open the 16th branch.


An official from HDC Hyundai Development Company said, "We opened the 17th Symphony Small Library to support the education of vulnerable groups, including families of people with developmental disabilities residing in the Gwangju area," adding, "HDC Hyundai Development Company will continue to practice meaningful sharing throughout local communities in need through continuous social contribution activities such as the Symphony Small Library project."
