Kakao Entertainment Donates Approximately 210 Million KRW Over 3 Years to Seoul Deaf Association and Others

Kakao Entertainment announced on the 23rd that it has supported the Seoul Association of the Deaf with KakaoPage gift cards worth approximately 100 million KRW over three years, including 45 million KRW this year.

During the same period, Kakao Entertainment also donated a total of 210 million KRW worth of support to the Seoul Association of the Deaf, the Gyeonggi Association of the Deaf, the Korea Foundation for Disabled Persons, and low-income youth in Seongnam City.

The KakaoPage gift card is a voucher that allows free access to KakaoPage webtoons and web novels. The gift cards delivered to the Seoul Association of the Deaf were utilized at the '19th Seoul Sign Language Culture Festival' held the previous day at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul. They will also be distributed to deaf families.

The Sign Language Culture Festival is an annual event organized by the Seoul Association of the Deaf to raise social awareness of the deaf community, promote sign language, and expand accessibility to deaf culture.

Kakao Entertainment has been continuously striving to improve accessibility for culturally vulnerable groups. In 2022, it provided KakaoPage gift cards to a total of 400 households of low-income elementary, middle, and high school students in Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province.

Last year, it also supported low-income youth through local child centers, child and youth group homes, and youth shelters in Seongnam City. Additionally, Kakao Entertainment donated sponsorship funds last year and this year to the 'Disability Awareness Improvement Contest' hosted by the Korea Foundation for Disabled Persons, which targets original creative works such as webtoons on disability awareness, and awarded the 'Kakao Entertainment CEO Award' to the winners.

Kwon Ki-soo, CEO of Kakao Entertainment, said, "As a company leading entertainment businesses domestically and internationally, Kakao Entertainment takes responsibility and carries out various sponsorship projects." He added, "We will continue to make steady efforts to expand cultural accessibility and provide inclusive entertainment under the direction of 'Closer, Kakao Entertainment'."
