Gyeonggi Province announced that from the 24th to the 25th, it will host the ‘2024 Gyeonggi Global Great Transformation Forum’ at KINTEX in Ilsan, Goyang, inviting global scholars, representatives of international organizations, and business leaders, similar to the Davos Forum.
This year’s forum theme is ‘AI and Humanomics (AIHumanomics).’ Gyeonggi Province expects this event to be an important platform for discussing the balance between a future society led by artificial intelligence and people-centered economic policies.
The event will be divided into two main sessions?an opening talk and a leaders’ roundtable?followed by four sessions on opportunity, climate, care, and peace economy.
The opening ceremony will feature an opening address by Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon, followed by keynote speeches from Professor Stuart Russell and Professor Bart J. Wilson.
Stuart Russell is the author of the AI textbook “Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach” and a computer science professor at UC Berkeley. Bart J. Wilson is a professor of economics and law at Chapman University who defined and developed the concept and principles of humanomics.
The opening talk will feature Peter Norvig, a distinguished research scientist at the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered AI, presenting on the topic “AI for Better or Worse.” Peter Norvig co-authored “Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach” with Stuart Russell and has served as a research lead at NASA and Google. The discussion topic is “Why Humanomics in the AI Era?” with Governor Kim Dong-yeon serving as the moderator for an in-depth discussion.
The leaders’ roundtable, held as a main session alongside the opening talk, will take place on the 25th. Representatives from international cooperation organizations such as the OECD, UN ESCAP, ICLEI, the European Union (EU), the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered AI, Naver, as well as central and local governments, international and regional organizations, and AI research institutions will participate in a discussion on “Global Solidarity and Cooperation Strategies for Humanomics in the AI Era.” A declaration will be adopted following the discussion.
Individual sessions will cover topics such as ▲Opportunity Economy (the future of industrial structure and jobs in the AI era, innovation in education paradigms led by AI) ▲Care Economy (the great transformation of the care economy) ▲Climate Economy (innovative coexistence of climate crisis response and AI) ▲Peace Economy (people-centered economy, changes in peace paradigms, and international cooperation), with experts from each field engaging in lively discussions over two days.
Gyeonggi Province will also open a special AI classroom session where authors of AI textbooks will freely communicate with university students about the past, present, and future of AI.
