Year-Round Weekend and Holiday Pediatric Care Starting November
Collaboration with Emergency Medical Center... Enhanced Treatment Capacity
Ulsan City has designated ‘Boram Hospital’ located in Samsan-dong, Nam-gu as the second Dalbit Children’s Hospital in the Ulsan area.
Dalbit Children’s Hospitals are medical institutions designated to allow mild pediatric or adolescent patients under the age of 18 to visit the nearest hospital or clinic from their residence for outpatient treatment during weekday nights, weekends, or public holidays, instead of visiting the emergency room.
Prior to the designation, Boram Hospital submitted an application to Nam-gu Health Center on the 14th to become the second Dalbit Children’s Hospital.
Nam-gu Health Center reviewed the application based on selection criteria such as treatment performance, capability, and appropriateness of the business plan, and judged that it met the designation standards, then requested approval from Ulsan City.
Accordingly, Ulsan City approved the designation on the 18th. After notifying the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service of the selection results in October, and completing the necessary preparations and public promotion, the hospital will begin full operation from November 1.
Boram Hospital, designated as the second Dalbit Children’s Hospital, is a medical institution that protects the health of women and children together. It is expected to greatly help strengthen the safety net for treating mild pediatric patients during vulnerable hours, as it has as many as eight pediatric specialists.
Additionally, to ensure convenience in prescription medication for patients using the Dalbit Children’s Hospital, the nearby ‘Ulsan Bora Pharmacy’ has been designated as a cooperating pharmacy.
Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom said, “Amid the recent very difficult medical situation, I am grateful to Boram Hospital for making a bold decision out of love for children,” and added, “Since Dalbit Children’s Hospitals are precious for caring for children who are the future leaders of Ulsan, we will spare no effort to actively support the strengthening of the mild pediatric patient treatment system.”
Ulsan City enacted the ‘Dalbit Children’s Hospital Support Ordinance’ on December 28 last year, and on February 16, signed an agreement among related organizations to activate the designation and operation of Dalbit Children’s Hospitals, thereby establishing a medical cooperation system for pediatric patients through various efforts.
As a result, in March this year, ‘Haetsal Children’s Hospital’ located in Cheonsang, Ulju-gun was designated as the first Dalbit Children’s Hospital, providing great support for pediatric treatment on holidays.
