Conducted Coordination Training Between Disaster Site and Headquarters... Strengthening Rapid Response Capabilities

Goyang-si Conducts 2024 Disaster Response Safety Korea Drill Lee Dong-hwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, is commanding the '2024 Goyang Special City Disaster Response Safe Korea Drill.'

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 23rd that it conducted the "2024 Goyang Special City Disaster Response Safety Korea Drill" on the 21st.

The drill, held at Goyang Aram Nuri, assumed a scenario where an electric vehicle fire in an underground parking lot spreads to a densely populated facility, aiming to establish a public-private cooperation system and strengthen disaster response capabilities.

The drill involved Goyang City, Goyang Cultural Foundation, fire department, police, and many citizens, and consisted of △ dissemination of fire occurrence and initial response △ emergency rescue and evacuation activities △ operation of Goyang City Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters △ formation of Goyang City Integrated Support Headquarters.

Notably, this year’s drill was conducted as an integrated linked exercise combining both 'discussion training' and 'field training.' By utilizing the disaster safety communication network (PS-LTE) to connect the disaster site and the disaster situation room in real time, the system maximized the role of Goyang City Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters as a comprehensive control tower.

This drill was evaluated as an effective exercise that can respond quickly to large-scale disasters, establishing the missions and roles of each institution and contributing to raising citizens' safety awareness.

After the drill, Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City stated, “This drill was a valuable experience in preparing for large-scale disaster situations. We will expand the disaster response cooperation system with related organizations to create a safe Goyang City where citizens can live with peace of mind.”
