"Sincerely Underwent Investigation"
Comedian Lee Jin-ho, who is suspected of illegal gambling, was released after a three-hour police investigation.
Lee finished the investigation at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul around 4:54 p.m. on the 22nd after about three hours of questioning.
He said, "I cooperated sincerely with the investigation. If I need to appear again for further questioning, I will also cooperate sincerely at that time," and added, "I apologize once again for causing trouble."
However, he did not answer questions regarding whether he admitted to all charges of habitual gambling or whether it was true that he borrowed money from acquaintances to fund his gambling.
Earlier, Lee appeared at the police station at 1:55 p.m. that day. This was one week after the preliminary investigation into Lee began on the 15th.
The investigation into Lee started on the 14th when a civil complaint was filed through the National Police Agency's online petition system, requesting an investigation into Lee's gambling and fraud allegations.
The complainant posted on an online community that they had filed the complaint, stating, "I ask the police to thoroughly investigate Lee Jin-ho's habitual gambling and fraud charges to prevent criminals from dominating the popular culture and arts industry."
The next day, on the 15th, the Gangnam Police Station assigned the complaint to the Investigation Division 2, officially registering Lee as a suspect on gambling charges and is currently conducting an investigation. They also plan to investigate the fraud allegations.
