National Aviation Museum, Neulbom School Falls to 'Proxy Agency'

Focus on Government Policy Support Instead of Aviation Industry Development
Jung Junho: "National Institutions Must Fulfill Their Original Roles"

National Aviation Museum, Neulbom School Falls to 'Proxy Agency' Assemblyman Jeong Junho

The National Aviation Museum is being criticized for becoming a government policy implementation agency by making the Neulbom School policy its main project.

According to the status report on the national audit work submitted by the National Aviation Museum to Jeong Jun-ho, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (Gwangju Buk-gu Gap), on the 22nd, the Aviation Museum is focusing on promoting the government's Neulbom School policy, contrary to its founding purpose of promoting aviation culture and developing the aviation industry.

Under the goal of "spreading aviation culture together with the people," the Aviation Museum has set the training of Neulbom School instructors and educational support as its main projects, establishing the development of educational content and expansion of permanent educational spaces as business objectives.

However, Neulbom School is an after-school care integrated program targeting elementary school students, mainly conducted within schools, leading to criticism that it does not align with the original purpose of the Aviation Museum's establishment.

The Aviation Museum continues to deviate from its core projects by including existing permanent programs such as the "Aviation Learning Playground," which operates regularly on weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and the "Visiting Aviation Museum" as part of the Neulbom School project.

Assemblyman Jeong urged, "As a national institution, the Aviation Museum should provide equal opportunities to all citizens and students through universal and fair educational programs," and added, "It must faithfully fulfill its original role as an educational venue for the promotion of Korea's aviation culture and the development of the aviation industry."
