Gangseo-gu to Host the 21st Disabled Persons' Harmony Festival on the 24th

A Gathering for Communication and Understanding Between People with and without Disabilities

Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) will hold the "21st Disabled Persons Harmony Festival" at Banghwa Neighborhood Park in Banghwa-dong on the 24th from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Organized by the Gangseo-gu Disabled Persons Association, this event has been held since 2003 to expand social and cultural activity opportunities for disabled persons and to improve awareness of disabilities.

About 900 participants, including disabled persons and their families from the local community, are expected to attend. The first part will begin with congratulatory performances by a disabled harmonica performance team and the female electronic string trio group "Dione," followed by a welfare support fund presentation ceremony and a raffle event.

The second part will feature cultural and artistic performances aimed at improving disability awareness and a talk concert. Performers include Jang Sung-bin, a vocalist with an intellectual disability, the Cheongbaji Band composed of both disabled and non-disabled members, trot singers Yang Jae-geun and Park Gun. Various experience programs such as handmade soap craft workshops, basic health measurements for disabled persons, and Boccia (a sport for disabled persons where players compete by adding points of balls closest to the target ball) experiences will also be held.

District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, "I hope this event will be an opportunity to view society from the perspective of disabled persons and create a world where we live together in harmony," and added, "I ask for much interest and participation in this event, which will promote the rights of disabled persons and serve as a place for communication and healing."
