Samsung SDS and Ansys Korea Join Hands for Cloud Business Collaboration

ANSYS Korea Simulation SW Installed on Samsung Cloud Platform

Samsung SDS announced on the 22nd that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ansys Korea, an engineering simulation software company, to expand its business and strengthen competitiveness in the cloud sector.

Ansys Korea is the Korean branch of Ansys, the global No. 1 company in the field of Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) simulation software based in the United States. The company's simulation software is an essential solution used in manufacturing industries such as automotive, energy, defense, and semiconductors to improve product performance and shorten development periods.

Through this agreement, Samsung SDS will provide a GPU-centered artificial intelligence (AI) cloud infrastructure on the Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP). Ansys Korea will supply CAE solutions in this optimized environment, as well as handle technical support and training. Both companies plan to offer users easy access to Ansys solutions as SaaS services through the SCP Marketplace.

In particular, Ansys Korea expects to improve simulation speeds compared to previous CPU environments by utilizing the subscription-based GPU service (GPUaaS) of the Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP), while also enabling shorter product development cycles. Using the GPUs provided by SCP, computations that previously took a week can be completed in a day, with expected speed improvements ranging from at least 5 times up to approximately 33 times.

The two companies will conduct a Proof of Concept (PoC) to build and optimize cloud-based solution service offerings. Aiming to expand their cloud business, they plan to jointly discover and promote business opportunities by combining their technologies and resources.

Gu Hyung-jun, Vice President and Head of Cloud Service Business Division at Samsung SDS, said, "This agreement goes beyond simple technical cooperation and will serve as a case of business innovation for manufacturing companies through cloud-based services. Through services combining Samsung SDS’s cloud technology and Ansys’s solution expertise, we will not only improve productivity and efficiency throughout the entire product development cycle but also collaborate to provide cloud-based services in rapidly growing global sectors such as aerospace and defense."
