Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) will hold the ‘Seonyudowon Festival,’ embracing the romance of autumn, culture and arts, and nature, from the 25th to the 27th at Seonyudo Park and the area around Seonyudo Station, which represent Yeongdeungpo.

As its name suggests, Seonyudo Park, meaning a place where immortals once traveled, offers residents a place to rest and relax right in the heart of Seoul. This year, the ‘Seonyudowon Festival,’ gathering various festivals and events for the first time, will be held in the ‘Walkable Street’ area near Seonyudo Park and Seonyudo Station, one of Seoul’s representative parks.

Since the festival lasts for three days, it is designed so that residents can fully enjoy the festival and experience culture, arts, healing, and relaxation. It features participation events and exciting programs that differentiate it from existing festivals in other local governments.

On the ‘Walkable Street’ connecting the main stage at Seonyudo Station to Seonyudo Park, the ‘October Seonyu’ festival, a representative village festival of Yangpyeong 2-dong, will take place. Cultural performances, experience booths, flea markets, and food stalls will be operated, all organized directly by village artists, professional groups, students, and residents.

Marking its 8th year this year, the festival will offer even more diverse attractions and sights, including a traditional Korean drum performance by Seonyu Elementary School students, a ‘Snack Eating Event’ held in collaboration with Lotte Wellfood Co., Ltd., and a ‘Robot Dance.’

At Seonyudo Park, true to its reputation as Korea’s first environmental regeneration ecological space, special programs featuring Seonyudo as the backdrop have been prepared. These include a ‘Docent Tour’ that tells the stories of Seonyudo’s past and present, ‘Seonyudo Campnic,’ where visitors can enjoy a romantic sunset in nature, and ‘Treasure Island Seonyudo,’ an exploration of the park. A music stage is also set up. On the evening of the 26th at 7 p.m., the nationally beloved singer Choi Baek-ho and pianist Kim Jung-won will present a high-quality musical performance representing autumn.

Additionally, the finals recording of ‘KBS National Singing Contest,’ loved by the entire nation, will be held on the 26th at 2 p.m. at the Yanghwa Hangang Park soccer field. Celebratory performances by popular singers such as Song Dae-gwan, Yang Ji-eun, and Na Sang-do, along with passionate stages by residents, will add to the festival’s excitement.

Finally, at the alley-style shopping street near Seonyudo Station, the ‘Fresh Beer Zone’ will be set up, where visitors can enjoy a cool beer under the autumn night sky on the street.

For the convenience of event participants, additional portable toilets will be installed within Seonyudo Park. These newly installed portable toilets will be located along the park’s main pathways for easy access by visitors. In the ‘Walkable Street’ near Seonyudo Station, signboards will be installed to help visitors easily locate open-style restrooms. This is to reduce restroom congestion and facilitate smoother use of restroom facilities amid the expected large number of visitors.

Furthermore, to ensure pedestrian safety and minimize traffic congestion, traffic control will be implemented. From 5 a.m. on the 26th to 9 p.m. on the 27th, a 200-meter section from exits 2 and 3 of Seonyudo Station to the back gate of Dangsan Elementary School will be fully closed.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “We have prepared the ‘Seonyudowon Festival’ for the first time this year so that people can fully experience the charm of the beautiful waterfront space of Seonyudo Park and the representative festival ‘October Seonyu’ created by residents. We will do our best to ensure that Seonyudo Park and its surrounding area attract domestic and international tourists and become a leading representative festival among local government festivals.”
