Namyangju City Hosts 11th Wangsukcheon Cultural Festival with Over 30,000 Visitors... Record High Attendance

Namyangju City's New Characters 'Kkeukwe and Naknak'... Winning the Love of Children and Citizens

Joo Gwang-deok, Mayor of Namyangju City, attended the '2024 Wangsukcheon Cultural Festival' held at Danong Sports Park in Dasan-dong on the 19th and delivered a congratulatory speech.

Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 21st that the ‘2024 Wangsukcheon Cultural Festival’ held on the 19th at Dasan-dong Donong Sports Park successfully concluded with a record-breaking attendance of over 30,000 spectators.

Marking its 11th year, the Wangsukcheon Cultural Festival is the representative autumn festival of the Dasan-dong area, hosted by the Dasan 1-dong Residents’ Autonomous Committee (Chairman Lee Jin-ho).

This year’s event featured the ‘Royal Procession’ performance that reexamined the historical origins of Wangsukcheon, along with traditional play experiences such as △hanging wish lanterns and △making traditional rice cakes. The festival continued with performances by invited singers including Yoon Tae-gyu and Lee Seung-yul, hosted by MC Burger-hyung, Namyangju City’s promotional ambassador, followed by generous prize giveaways.

In particular, Namyangju City’s new characters ‘Kkeukkeu and Naknak’ introduced at the festival attracted great interest from children and citizens alike, and the ‘Air Sofa Zone,’ which provided a comfortable resting space for visitors, also received much positive feedback.

The festival saw remarkable participation from young generations in their 20s to 40s and family groups. Active promotion within the Dasan-dong apartment complexes and real-time SNS promotion in collaboration with famous Namyangju influencers yielded significant results.

Chairman Lee Jin-ho of the Residents’ Autonomous Committee said, “Together with committee members and many volunteers, we worked hard to create a space where citizens can relax and enjoy themselves. We thank everyone who participated and hope that all had a satisfying time.”

Mayor Joo Gwang-deok stated, “Thanks to the enthusiastic support of the citizens, this festival was grandly held. Especially with many children attending, the festival shone even brighter, serving as a meaningful time for communication and harmony between the old and new downtown areas.”
