On the 21st, defense company stocks such as Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) and Poongsan are fluctuating in the stock market. Concerns have grown that the Ukraine-Russia war may escalate following government reports of North Korea dispatching troops to Russia.
As of 1:37 PM on the 21st, KAI's stock price was trading at 550,900 won, up 4.29% from last week's closing price. Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, KAI's stock price rose from 26,850 won to 63,900 won. Since then, it has fluctuated depending on the war situation, but on this day, it rose again by a relatively large margin.
Poongsan also traded at 71,000 won, up 7.12% on the day. After reaching an all-time high of 78,000 won in May, it has repeatedly adjusted and risen, and on this day, it is recording the highest price in five months. If it rises by about 7,000 won more, it will break the all-time high again.
The National Intelligence Service confirmed on the 18th that North Korea has participated in the Ukraine war, reporting that the first group of 1,500 North Korean soldiers moved to Vladivostok, Russia. In response, North Korean authorities have shown no particular reaction.
