On the 17th, Guri City conducted a volunteer activity through the Namyang Market Alley Merchants Association Volunteer Club and the community group Gaga Hoho to improve safety and aesthetics for families with developmental disabilities in the area by removing rusted security bars and replacing them with aluminum security bars. The city of Guri, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) announced on the 21st that on the 17th, the Namyang Market Alley Merchants Association Volunteer Club Village Community Gaga Hoho conducted a volunteer activity to remove rusty security bars and replace them with aluminum security bars to improve the safety and aesthetics of homes of people with developmental disabilities in the area.
The Village Community Gaga Hoho is a group selected for the "2024 Guri City Village Community Resident Proposal Contest Project," which discovers village issues through communication and cooperation among local residents and solves village problems based on mutual understanding.
The target of this project was households with developmental disabilities vulnerable to safety issues. The old, severely corroded security bars were removed and replaced with new security bars made of aluminum, which can be easily opened and closed from the inside but are strong against external intrusion.
Ko Hyun-jong, representative of Gaga Hoho, said, "I am glad that this activity allows the household with developmental disabilities to live safely and comfortably," and added, "Next year, we want to actively carry out activities to help neighbors in need through the resident proposal contest project."
Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri said, "I deeply thank all the members of the Village Community Gaga Hoho who devoted themselves to volunteering despite their busy schedules," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that all citizens, including households with developmental disabilities, can live safe and happy lives."
