Yeoju Cultural Center and 12 Civic Groups Sign Cooperation Agreement for Carbon Neutrality Practice Activities
The Gyeonggi Yeoju Sustainable Development Council (Standing Chairman Yoo Hojin) announced on the 21st that it signed a business agreement with 12 citizen organizations in Yeoju City on the 17th to promote projects related to greenhouse gas reduction and carbon neutrality practice.
Selected for Gyeonggi Province's 'Greenhouse Gas Reduction Practice Activity Public Project,' this project is being promoted with a total budget of 50 million KRW (25 million KRW from the provincial government and 25 million KRW from the city government). It plans to carry out various activities such as visiting 'carbon neutrality education' and 'eco-friendly store operation in response to the climate crisis.' The 12 partner organizations and groups promised active cooperation in this regard.
Climate crisis response activities, which were individually promoted by citizen organizations in various fields such as education, religion, culture, and welfare, are expected to be carried out more systematically and effectively through this business agreement. It is known that meaningful projects have been prepared for Yeoju citizens to directly experience through citizen participation events such as installing resource circulation item collection boxes, carbon neutrality education, and environmental protection campaigns.
Yoo Hojin, Standing Chairman of the Yeoju Sustainable Development Council, stated, "It is important for Yeoju citizens to empathize with the seriousness of the climate crisis and further create opportunities to directly practice carbon neutrality," adding, "We will actively cooperate with partner organizations and strive to create an atmosphere where climate crisis response activities can spread throughout the local community."
