This event was planned with the hope that elderly people spending lonely time alone will participate in friend-making activities to rely on each other, alleviate loneliness, and enjoy a happy old age. The target participants are singles aged 65 and over in Jongno. To select participants, the district accepted applications for 20 men and 20 women at the Senior Welfare Division and Jongno Senior Welfare Center until the 17th.

On the day of the event, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, activities will take place in the front yard of Noandang at Unhyeongung, including nickname self-introductions for ice-breaking, group conversations and 1:1 free talks, recreation, and matching time in sequence.

The district expects that through the Jongno Good Life Challenge, planned as part of creating an age-friendly city, elderly people will form new social relationships and develop a positive perception of life.

Meanwhile, on the same day from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, ‘Unhyeongung Melody’ will be presented. Any citizen visiting Unhyeongung can enjoy musical performances in the elegant and charming royal palace and immerse themselves in the romance of the season. The stage will be decorated by the acoustic band ‘Bukchon Band,’ born in Bukchon where beautiful hanok and modern sensibility coexist, and the performer ‘Lee Byeongran,’ who delivers the deep resonance of the chromatic harmonica.

Mayor Jeong Munheon said, “We aim to create a dignified meeting place for singles aged 65 and over in Jongno to invigorate residents’ daily lives,” adding, “We hope the Jongno Good Life Challenge will contribute to a happy old age.”
