Introduction of Oh Se-hoon's Climate Companion Card in 'Trend Korea'... Mentioning Its Excellence

One of Mayor Oh Se-hoon's million-seller policies, the Climate Companion Card, was featured in the bestseller "Trend Korea 2025," which analyzes South Korea's consumer trends for next year.

According to Seoul City on the 20th, the book presents ten keywords for next year: ▲Omnivore ▲Aboha ▲Topping Economy ▲Facetech ▲Harmlessness ▲Gradation K ▲Material Charm ▲Climate Sensitivity ▲Co-evolution Strategy ▲One Point Up. The Climate Companion Card was introduced under the 'Climate Sensitivity' category.

"Trend Korea" is a book published every October by experts including Professor Kim Nan-do of Seoul National University's Department of Consumer Studies, analyzing social changes and introducing consumption trends for the following year.

The book states, "To combat the warming Earth, everyone must unite, and to encourage climate sensitivity among many people, even small but definite incentives are important," citing the Climate Companion Card as a representative example and explaining its excellence.

Directly conceived by Mayor Oh, the Climate Companion Card is the nation's first unlimited integrated public transportation pass. For 65,000 KRW per month (62,000 KRW excluding Ddareungi bike), users can enjoy unlimited rides on all public transportation within Seoul, including subways, buses, and Ddareungi bikes.

The book describes that by providing clear financial incentives, the card encouraged citizens' climate actions, selling one million cards within 70 days of operation, reducing about 100,000 private car trips over four months, and achieving a greenhouse gas reduction effect of approximately 9,000 tons.

As of the end of September, 11.8% (about 510,000 people) of Seoul public transportation users were using this card. Cumulative recharges exceeded 5.03 million by last month, and the highest number of weekday users surpassed the initial target of 500,000, reaching 620,000 on September 26.

Additional benefits include youth discounts, up to 50% discounts linked to cultural facilities, expanded usage areas such as Jinjeop and Byeollae Lines, and services like drop-off at Incheon Airport Station.

Plans to expand include extending to nearby cities to benefit more metropolitan residents, developing a postpaid card combining check and credit card functions, linking with Wrist Doctor 9988 mileage, and creating products connected to shared mobility services.

Mayor Oh said, "We will develop the Climate Companion Card project into a global standard that can enhance climate sensitivity."
