The Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that North Korea released more than 20 balloons carrying trash toward South Korea from the 19th to the 20th.
The Joint Chiefs stated, "So far, about 10 pieces of debris have been confirmed in the Cheorwon area of Gangwon Province," adding, "The confirmed contents are paper materials and plastic bags, which are household waste, and analysis results showed no substances harmful to safety." They also reported that as of the morning of the 20th, there are no North Korean trash balloons identifiable in the air.
This marks the 29th time this year that North Korea has released trash balloons.
The trash balloons sent by North Korea are about 2 to 3 meters in diameter and 3 to 4 meters in length, with several bundles of debris bags attached to the balloons.
