KT "Boost Productivity with AI"... Hosting Employee Prompt Contest

20 Teams' 2-Day 1-Night Training Camp for Finals
Enhancing Internal Capabilities and Changing Work Methods

KT announced on the 20th that it held the generative AI prompt competition 'Chrompton' to innovate work processes and enhance employee capabilities using artificial intelligence (AI).

KT "Boost Productivity with AI"... Hosting Employee Prompt Contest

Chrompton is a compound word of KT, prompt, and hackathon, and is a competition where KT employees develop prompts that can increase work productivity. A prompt refers to a command that instructs an AI model to perform a specific task. By using prompts, tasks equivalent to programming can be done with simple writing without any coding experience.

The purpose of this competition is to eliminate repetitive tasks and productivity hindrances in KT’s office work and to strengthen individual AI capabilities. Prompts that receive excellent evaluations will be disseminated company-wide to enhance productivity. To ensure versatility, submissions were required to be linked with common Microsoft 365 applications such as Word and Excel.

The competition was held in preliminary and final rounds. Twenty teams that passed the preliminaries, which started in September, competed in the finals held as an offline workshop over one night and two days at the KT Wonju Training Center. In the finals, the top seven teams presented and demonstrated their submissions for the final evaluation. Microsoft employees attended the judging process in person. Staff verified the technical completeness of the prompts, while executives comprehensively evaluated the projects and provided suggestions.

The grand prize was awarded to the 'T3 Team,' which developed a prompt focused on business proposal strategies. The prompt developed by this team quickly identifies and analyzes business opportunities issued by various entities such as local governments and public sectors, then generates business proposal strategies based on KT’s strengths. The T3 Team consists of employees from the Chungnam-Chungbuk Regional Headquarters, including staff, managers, and directors, demonstrating KT’s AI utilization capabilities across regions and generations.

The excellence award went to the 'AI Creature' team, which developed a prompt focused on automating repetitive email sending tasks. The prompt developed by this team automates the email sending process, which previously took a long time due to many recipients. Although the AI Creature team is composed of non-developers, they learned how to use prompts with the intention of solving difficulties they experienced in their daily work and achieved results.

Chrompton is an effort to strengthen KT employees’ AI utilization capabilities and transform work methods. Participants gathered from across the country gained experience in actively applying AI to their daily tasks through this competition, laying the foundation for innovation at their respective workplaces. Jin Youngshim, KT’s Head of Talent Development (Senior Executive Director), stated, “We will apply the finally selected prompts to actual work to create an innovative work environment and continue to collaborate with Microsoft to drive AI innovation.”
