Gwangju City announced on the 20th that it will hold the "Elderly Mental Health and Welfare Awareness Improvement Joint Campaign" on the 23rd at the lawn park in front of Munbinjeongsa Temple in Mudeungsan National Park.
The campaign is hosted by Gwangju City and organized by the Gwangju Mental Health Welfare Center, Gwangju Dementia Center, Gwangju Social Service Institute, and Gwangju Elderly Protection Agency. Additionally, 12 institutions including the basic mental health welfare centers of five autonomous districts, Nam-gu and Gwangsan-gu Dementia Safety Centers, and the municipal psychiatric hospital will participate.
Under the theme "A world where the elderly can smile and life gets more enjoyable," the city will operate various experience booths such as ▲elderly depression screening and mental health counseling ▲cognitive training experience using dementia prevention teaching aids ▲elder abuse prevention and mental health awareness OX quiz ▲health checks including blood pressure and diabetes ▲and a memory-making Polaroid experience.
Im Jin-seok, Director of the Health and Hygiene Division of Gwangju City, said, "I hope this campaign will be a good opportunity to check health and mental status, and to foster the importance of self-care and positive awareness." He added, "We will continue to provide various elderly-tailored services through cooperation with related organizations to create a healthy society."
