Yongsan-gu awarded the Yongsan Resident Grand Prize at the 31st Yongsan Resident Day celebration held on the 18th. Provided by Yongsan-gu.
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) announced on the 20th that it held a commemorative event on the 18th at the Yongsan Art Hall (150 Noksapyeong-daero) Grand Theater Mir to celebrate the 31st Yongsan Residents' Day.
At the event, nine individuals and organizations received the Residents' Grand Prize: ▲ Oh Won-seok (Good Deeds Volunteer Award) ▲ Kim Soon-im (Model Family Award) ▲ Samsung Cultural Foundation (Culture and Arts Award) ▲ Kwak Young-gu (Sports Promotion Award) ▲ Kim Min-ki (Regional Development Award) ▲ Kim Hae-ja (Environmental Protection Award) ▲ Lee Jae-sook (Education Development Award) ▲ Kang Sung-jun (Safety Award) ▲ Saemaul Leaders Yongsan-gu Council (Special Award).
The district awarded an honorary Yongsan resident certificate to Edward Cho, Commander of the U.S. Army Garrison Casey. Commander Cho was selected as the recipient for his contribution to integrating the U.S. military base and Yongsan-gu into one community and for his commitment to continue cooperating for the district’s development.
The event was attended by about 800 people, including Yongsan District Mayor Park Hee-young, National Assembly member Kwon Young-se, Yongsan District Council Chairman Kim Sung-chul, district council members, Commander of Yongsan Casey Base, delegations from the overseas sister city Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province, Vietnam, domestic sister cities, heads of related organizations, leaders of professional groups, and representatives of residents from various sectors.
Yongsan District Mayor Park Hee-young said, “I am glad to meet the residents through the bond of Yongsan and celebrate Yongsan Residents' Day together. Yongsan-gu will always stand by you so that every member of the Yongsan family can dream of the future and enjoy happiness.”
Meanwhile, Yongsan Residents' Day commemorates October 18, 1946, when the administrative district ‘Seoul Special City Yongsan-gu’ was first established. Since 1994, the district has held commemorative events annually around October 18.
