The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 20th that it has selected Applekind Foodmaker, an agricultural corporation, as the 5th star company in the rural convergence industry, which is being promoted to discover and promote excellent companies in the rural convergence sector.
Applekind Foodmaker is a convergence company led by CEO Kim Cheol-ho in Yanggu-gun, Gangwon-do, pioneering the creation of added value for apples. Through various farming methods such as producing its own compost and applying cover crop cultivation methods, it cultivates safe apples that can be trusted and consumed while preserving the environment. In the distribution process, it differentiated itself with a subscription product called "Apple Sasaek," which delivers various apple varieties according to the season, and sells low-grade apples with harvest damage at affordable prices, fostering mutual support between farmers and consumers.

Furthermore, by purchasing surplus local apples and manufacturing products such as carbonated juice and fruit chips, it creates about three times the added value. Through collaboration with Ottogi (Rollipolly Cotto), it has developed and sells campagne and curry menus using apples. Additionally, it attracts over 1,000 participants annually through apple picking experiences (Farm Picnic) and contributes to nurturing the future generation of agriculture by employing five young people.
Kim Go-eun, Director of the Rural Economy Division at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, said, "Applekind Foodmaker is a representative case showing the infinite potential of our fruit farmers," adding, "The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs will spare no support to create agricultural products that people can see, feel, and experience in various ways, moving beyond simply consuming agricultural products."
