The Democratic Party of Korea on the 19th fiercely pressured President Yoon Seok-yeol and the ruling party, stating, "Through the 'Kim Geon-hee special prosecutor,' we will also investigate the 'Myung Tae-gyun allegations.'"
No Jong-myeon, the party's floor spokesperson, said in a written briefing that day, "We will thoroughly reveal how Mr. Myung Tae-gyun interfered in the last presidential election process and subsequent state affairs without being swayed by his words."
No added, "Mr. Myung, who claimed he would prove the relationship with President Yoon and Mrs. Kim Geon-hee, suddenly changed his stance and joked that he buried the cellphone containing evidence underground," calling it "meaningful."
He continued, "Until just before, Mr. Myung responded to criticism from the ruling party by revealing the 'oppa KakaoTalk' messages exchanged late at night with Mrs. Kim," and "After that, all ruling party figures fell silent."
He further explained, "Mr. Myung's joking reflects this situation," adding, "He changed his story from saying Mrs. Kim's oppa was the president to saying it was her biological brother, and claimed that the information about the Changwon industrial complex selection came not from the presidential couple but from Representative Kim Young-sun."
No Jong-myeon criticized, "Where is the boldness that used to file lawsuits and complaints at every turn?" and said, "The ruling party jumps up at the proposal to appoint a special prosecutor for Mr. Myung. This is a typical reaction when a serious weakness is exposed."
He concluded, "This is also a warning to Yongsan and the ruling party. Do not even dream of dealing with Mr. Myung."
