On the 19th, Jeju City announced that a complaint was filed through the National Police Agency's online portal, alleging that an unregistered illegal lodging business was being operated at a detached house owned by Moon in Hyeopjae-ri, Hallim-eup, and that the Jeju Autonomous Police Agency was requested to investigate.

Jeju City believes that Moon's house was used for lodging without registering as a rural homestay business and reportedly requested the investigation early last month to verify the facts clearly.

However, Jeju City is said to have responded that it cannot definitively conclude whether Moon engaged in illegal lodging activities.

The detached house was previously registered under the name of Father Song Gi-in, who was acquainted with the late former President Roh Moo-hyun and former President Moon Jae-in, before Moon purchased it in July 2022 for 380 million won.

Meanwhile, on the 5th, Moon was investigated by the Yongsan Police Station after causing an accident with a taxi while driving under the influence (blood alcohol concentration 0.149%) in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
