"Unbearable Dog Walks Even in Rain"... Gangseo-gu Opens Dog Shelter Today

On the 18th, Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) opened a 'Pet Dog Shelter' where pet dogs can walk and play together.

On the same day, the district held an opening ceremony at Hwanggeumnae Neighborhood Park in Gayang-dong and began full-scale operation. The newly opened pet dog shelters are located in three places in total, with two established in Hwanggeumnae Neighborhood Park in Gayang-dong and Bongjesan Neighborhood Park in Hwagok-dong.

For the convenience of users, the district installed waste bag dispensers, portable fences, and rest facilities for guardians within the pet dog shelters. Since many residents use the space together with their pet dogs, special attention was paid to safety. Only pet dogs registered with animal registration can enter accompanied by their guardians while wearing a leash. Management staff are assigned to each shelter to help maintain a pleasant environment.

The shelter operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The district plans to conduct a six-month pilot operation period, gather users' feedback, and improve and supplement any shortcomings. Despite the rainy weather, about 50 people, including District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon and the pet dog patrol team, attended the site to celebrate the opening.

District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, "We have operated the pet dog shelter to create a friendly environment where pet owners and their pets can be together," adding, "We will continue to manage it so that users can use it safely and conveniently."
