On the 18th, Paju City in Gyeonggi announced that it signed a business agreement with the Paju Office of Education and Paju Police Station on the 15th to create a safe city free from gender-based violence. About 40 people, including members of the Paju City Council, parent representatives, and instructors related to gender-based violence education, participated in this agreement.

Through this agreement, the three organizations have established a strengthened network that leads to the training of instructors for gender-based violence prevention, information sharing, and victim protection.

According to the agreement, Paju City will train gender-based violence prevention instructors and dispatch them to schools; the Office of Education will actively cooperate in promotion and education tailored to the school environment; and the police will respond promptly to gender-based violence, support the deletion of false sexual videos, and work to prevent the spread of harm.

Choi Eun-mi, the Superintendent of Education, and Jeong Deok-jin, Chief of Paju Police Station, said, “We will closely cooperate with Paju City to create a safe city free from gender-based violence.” Park Dae-seong, Chairperson of the Paju City Council, who was also present, promised, “The council will also participate by striving to secure the budget for a safe Paju free from gender-based violence.”

Parent representatives and representatives of the Education Development Committee said with bright smiles, “Through sex education for our children, we understood many previously unknown aspects. Until now, it was difficult for children to receive gender-based violence prevention education in the school environment focused on entrance exams, and as parents, we felt many difficulties. Hearing the promise to join forces for education at today’s agreement ceremony is reassuring.”

The representative of the instructor group responsible for student education said, “Instructors will work hard to create a society free from gender-based violence, and we hope that the three organizations and parents will cooperate together to achieve good results.”

Kim Kyung-il, Mayor of Paju City, said, “I hope this business agreement will form a strong alliance not only among the city, the Office of Education, and the police but also among all citizens to create a violence-free environment.”
