Smoking Cessation Clinics in the Mobile Era!... Jungnang-gu Operates Mobile Smoking Cessation Clinic

Start of Online and One-Stop Smoking Cessation Clinic Service Support
Enhancing Accessibility for Mobile-Savvy Youth and Office Workers

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) is operating a mobile smoking cessation clinic.

As part of the digital transformation project, it was planned to help residents quit smoking by utilizing both face-to-face and non-face-to-face methods through the popular mobile messenger 'KakaoTalk' channel.

In particular, it is expected to help more target groups maintain a smoke-free status by expanding accessibility to teenagers, young adults, and office workers who are familiar with mobile devices.

The smoking cessation clinic is a 6-month smoking cessation success program that provides customized professional smoking cessation counseling, behavior reinforcement items, and nicotine replacement therapies (patches and gum) free of charge. Those who find it difficult to visit the public health center can participate by filling out and submitting a mobile registration card.

The mobile smoking cessation clinic can be accessed by searching for ‘Jungnang-gu Public Health Center Mobile Smoking Cessation Clinic’ on the KakaoTalk channel or by scanning the QR code. The KakaoTalk channel offers services from clinic registration to 1:1 customized chat and phone counseling.

It also provides an expert non-face-to-face consultation service available at all times. Waiting times are reduced and convenience increased through phone and chat. Smoking cessation educational materials are posted once or twice a month, and users can also receive various news and quotes about quitting smoking.

Additionally, to listen to users’ diverse opinions, a two-way channel will be established that continuously improves any shortcomings through a satisfaction survey conducted after three months of use.

Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “The ‘Mobile Smoking Cessation Clinic’ channel will be developed and improved together by reflecting users’ opinions, so expectations are high.” He added, “Through this smoking cessation service in the palm of your hand, we will take care of residents’ health and strive to make the process of achieving smoking cessation goals enjoyable.”
