Professor Wi Jeongjae's Research Team at Hanyang University Achieves Award at the Korean Polymer Society Fall Conference

Achievements in the Oral Poster Presentation Section

Hanyang University announced on the 19th that students from the Advanced Materials Research Laboratory, led by Professor Jeongjae Wi of the Department of Organic Nano Engineering, won the Best Paper Award and Excellence Paper Award at the Korean Polymer Society Fall Conference.

Doctoral student Seogu Lee and integrated master's and doctoral student Minjung Ham from Professor Wi's team received the Best Oral Presentation Award and the Excellence Poster Presentation Award, respectively, at the conference held on the 1st at BEXCO in Busan.

Doctoral student Seogu Lee presented research on developing composite materials of thermoplastic polyurethane using lignin, a waste product generated in the biomass industry. The academic community paid attention to the study analyzing the chemical structure of lignin and its compatibility with thermoplastic polyurethane to identify the optimal type and content of lignin.

Integrated master's and doctoral student Minjung Ham developed a technology that can freely control the height and direction of jumps without external stimuli by adjusting the molecular orientation of liquid crystal polymers. This research was recognized for its achievement in selectively patterning mechanical strength to diversify the movement of actuators.

Professor Jeongjae Wi of Hanyang University said, "I am very proud that the students' passion and efforts have borne fruit and that the excellence of their research was recognized at the Korean Polymer Society." He added, "I expect them to contribute to the advancement of science and technology in our country as the next generation of scholars."
