Eunpyeong-gu, New City Bus Route 706 Established and Route 8773 Extended

Operation of Jinkwan Public Garage to Seosomun Section Starts from the 18th of This Month

Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that starting from the 18th, it will establish a new city bus route 706 and extend the customized bus route 8773 to improve convenience for users and alleviate congestion on city buses.

City bus route 706 operates between Jingwan Public Garage and Seosomun (City Hall), passing through Gupabal Station, Eunpyeong New Town, Eunpyeong Police Station, Yeonsinnae Station, and Nokbeon Station.

This change converts the existing route 8701, which operated only during weekday rush hours, into the regular route 706 to resolve traffic inconveniences in the Eunpyeong New Town and Tongillo sections, which experience high congestion not only during commuting hours but throughout the day.

The customized bus 8773 will also increase its operating section and number of vehicles to enhance convenience for residents during commuting hours. The bus, which previously operated with 2 vehicles between Nokbeon Station and Hongdae Entrance Station, will be extended by 11.1 km to cover the section from Gusan-dong to Hongdae Entrance Station by adding 15 stops between Gusan-dong and Nokbeon Station. Additionally, 3 more vehicles will be deployed, reducing the interval between buses from 40 minutes to 20 minutes.

The adjustment of route 8773 is expected to provide great convenience to residents of Gusan-dong, who had difficulties using Subway Line 6 Eungam Station and Subway Line 3 Nokbeon Station, as well as residents of Eungam-dong, who experienced high congestion during commuting hours due to population increases from redevelopment.

Meanwhile, since August 30, the addition of vehicles has shortened the intervals between buses on each route, improving the public transportation environment. A total of 7 vehicles have been added across three routes: 3 vehicles on route 7734 (Jingwan Garage to Hongdae Entrance Station), 2 vehicles on route 7722 (Jingwan Garage to Nokbeon Station), and 2 vehicles on route 7723 (Eunpyeong New Town circulation).

District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung stated, “We expect that this route adjustment will greatly enhance the convenience for residents using public transportation,” and added, “Eunpyeong is a major transportation hub with connections in all directions, and we will continuously strive to expand public transportation and improve the usage environment.”
