Ulsan Office of Education Proposes Educational Policy Ideas... Announces 7 Award-Winning Works

Silver Award: 1 Piece, Bronze Awards: 2 Pieces, Encouragement Awards: 4 Pieces Selected

90 Education Policy Proposals, 2,899 Votes Cast

The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 18th the seven award-winning entries (one silver, two bronze, and four encouragement awards) of the ‘2024 Ulsan Education Brilliant Idea Proposal Contest’ on its official website.

The silver award in the general category was given to the proposal titled ‘Ulsan Education Without Swearing or Hearing Swearing - Warm and Peaceful Ulsan Education Starts with Schools That Do Not Use Profanity’.

This proposal, which received the highest number of preference votes (1,306 votes), specifically suggested measures to improve student language culture, including a campaign promoting ‘Student Council Not Using Profanity,’ a secret voting system for the ‘Kind Words Angel,’ the introduction of an undercover inspector system, and a pledge not to use profanity in public places.

The bronze awards were given to the student category entry ‘Diversification of School Bell Sounds for Class Start and End’ and the staff category entry ‘Improvement Measures for Student Discipline as Restorative Life Education’.

The encouragement awards were selected as one entry from the student category, one from the general category, and two from the staff category.

The contest, held from late May to early July, received 90 educational policy proposals from students, parents, staff, and general citizens in the Ulsan area. The Ulsan Office of Education selected 10 entries that passed preliminary screening and other evaluations, and after preference voting by 2,899 people, finalized the award winners.

The awardees are scheduled to receive the Superintendent’s Commendation and prizes later this month.

Superintendent Cheon Chang-su said, “I thank all members of the Ulsan education family who proposed creative ideas and congratulate the awardees. We will strive to ensure that the proposed ideas are reflected in actual educational policies.”

The list of awardees can be found on the Ulsan Office of Education’s official website.
