RaonSecure Reveals Blockchain Digital ID Open Source Plan at '2024 K-OpenSourceX'

RaonSecure revealed its plan to open source its blockchain digital ID platform at the ‘2024 K-OpenSourceX’ conference.

IT security and authentication platform company RaonSecure (CEO Lee Soon-hyung, Lee Jung-ah) announced its plan to open source its blockchain-based digital ID platform at the ‘2024 K-OpenSourceX’ conference held on the 17th at COEX, hosted by the Korea Open Source Software Association (KOSSA). The ‘2024 K-OpenSourceX’ is a conference for sharing technologies and business strategies of leading open source companies.

At the conference, Kim Tae-jin, RaonSecure’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), gave a presentation titled “Understanding Digital ID Open Source Technology,” sharing the functions and roles of the systems that make up the company’s blockchain digital ID platform ‘OmniOne,’ the systems to be open sourced within the platform, and related status and plans.

‘OmniOne’ is a blockchain-based decentralized identity verification (DID) platform applied to multiple identity verification models such as mobile driver’s licenses. It includes the on-premises version ‘OmniOne Enterprise’ and the SaaS version ‘OmniOne Digital ID.’ CTO Kim Tae-jin stated that the platform plans to open source the issuance system, verification system, wallet, trust system, and other components necessary for digital ID issuance and verification.

Additionally, CTO Kim Tae-jin shared the current status and plans for OmniOne’s open source development. Since forming a dedicated team last year for the open sourcing of the blockchain digital ID platform, RaonSecure has been conducting technical preparations necessary for open source release. By the end of this month, the OmniOne source code will be published on ‘GitHub,’ a global open source sharing site used by developers worldwide, and a detailed roadmap for the OmniOne open source project through 2026 will be disclosed. In November, a community channel will be opened, and from next year, active support for open source-based OmniOne projects will begin.

RaonSecure plans to proceed with the open sourcing of its blockchain digital ID platform by adhering to the fundamental principles of open source development, including designing for compatibility and inclusiveness of various technologies, allowing anyone to freely contribute to the project, transparently disclosing decisions and changes, and complying with open standards during technology implementation.

Kim Tae-jin, CTO of RaonSecure, said, “Through the open sourcing of RaonSecure’s blockchain digital ID platform, we will create a space where countless developers worldwide can freely participate and contribute to the DID ecosystem,” adding, “Through this, we will accelerate the day when Korea’s DID technology expands globally and people around the world enjoy the innovations of various blockchain DIDs.”
