Ulsan City Holds World White Cane Safety Day Commemoration and Welfare Promotion Event for the Visually Impaired

"White Cane, Inspiring Aspiration for Independence and Achievement"

Selected as the Nation's First Social Welfare Award-Winning Institution

Ulsan City will hold the 45th World White Cane Day Ceremony and the Welfare Promotion Event for the Visually Impaired at 10 a.m. on the 18th in the city hall auditorium.

The ceremony will be attended by 500 people, including representatives from disability organizations, and will proceed with the reading of the White Cane Charter, commendations for meritorious persons, and the presentation of appreciation plaques.

At the commendation ceremony, 19 individuals who have quietly dedicated themselves to improving welfare for the disabled despite hardships and adversity, contributing to raising awareness and spreading a culture of empathy for the disabled, will receive commendations and appreciation plaques.

In particular, Ulsan City has been selected as an excellent institution for welfare promotion and rights enhancement projects for the visually impaired, the first in the nation, and will receive the Social Welfare Award from the Korea Blind Union (President Kim Young-il).

Following the ceremony, a welfare promotion event for the visually impaired will be held at the Taehwagang Riverside to boost morale, featuring various cultural performances such as singing contests.

Ulsan City operates facilities such as a Life Mobility Center, a Welfare Center for the Visually Impaired, a Braille Library, Group Homes, and a Daycare Center to promote welfare for the visually impaired, and is currently promoting the construction of a new Welfare Center for the Visually Impaired to provide comprehensive services.
