Joint Inspection with Autonomous Police Committee, Local Governments, and Transport Corporation
Installation of Enforcement Cameras, Traffic Lights, and Jaywalking Prevention Facilities
Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency (Chief Choi Jong-moon) announced on the 17th that it will reinforce traffic safety facilities through on-site joint inspections with the Autonomous Police Committee, Gunsan Police Station, Gunsan City, and the Korea Road Traffic Authority to prevent traffic accidents in the province.
The roads selected for improvement by the Jeonbuk police are two locations with frequent accidents: Gunsan Daehak-ro (Naun 4-ga to Eunpa 3-ga) and Wolmyeong-ro (Myeongsan 4-ga to Heungnam 4-ga).

Daehak-ro is located near Eunpa Amusement Park and an entertainment district. In June, a traffic signal-violating motorcycle hit pedestrians crossing the crosswalk, resulting in two deaths. Wolmyeong-ro is also an old downtown area where crosswalk accidents frequently occurred.
Through this joint inspection, the police plan to install rear-facing enforcement cameras on Daehak-ro, install crosswalk traffic lights in the section between Onammae Bakery and Miwon-dong GS Convenience Store on Wolmyeong-ro, and reinforce jaywalking prevention facilities throughout the targeted areas.
Choi Jong-moon, Chief of Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency, said, "This joint inspection analyzes the traffic accident occurrence status in sections with concentrated accidents, and the police, local governments, and research institutions will jointly promote facility improvements. We hope this will enhance the traffic safety of the residents."
