According to the Gwangju City Council on the 17th, this relay campaign was promoted to raise awareness about child abuse and to widely promote the concept of positive parenting that respects children as they are. Starting with the 1st Vice Minister of Health and Welfare in May, heads of government offices and public institutions nationwide have joined, expanding the campaign to the private sector and the general public.
Chairman Heo Kyung-haeng stated, “Through this campaign, we aim to improve awareness of child abuse and make Gwangju a city where all children can grow up safely and happily. We ask for the continuous interest of related organizations and citizens,” urging social attention at the civic level.
Heo Kyung-haeng, who was nominated by Lee Jae-sik, Chairman of the Suwon Special City Council, to participate in the relay campaign hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Child Rights Protection Agency, nominated Lee Moon-hyung, Chairman of the Gwangju District Council of the Ministry of Justice Youth Crime Prevention Committee, and Lee Seung-kyung, Director of the Gyeonggi Eastern Branch of the Korea Legal Protection Welfare Corporation, as the next participants.
