Delivery of 5 Hygiene Products Including Disinfectant Cloths and Cleaners to 624 Hygiene Grade Certified Businesses
Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 17th that it will provide incentives to 624 hygiene grade designated restaurants within the city to boost the morale of these establishments and increase the designation rate of the hygiene grading system.
The city will support the incentives by directly delivering five types of hygiene supplies necessary for restaurant hygiene management, such as sterilizing cloth tissues and cleaning agents for cooking utensils, to the designated establishments. Through this, it is expected that the designated businesses will be able to provide safer food to customers.
The restaurant hygiene grading system, implemented nationwide since May 2017 for general restaurants, cafes, and bakeries, is a restaurant certification system designated by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. It evaluates 44 items across three categories and assigns one of three hygiene grades: ‘Excellent’, ‘Very Good’, and ‘Good’.
Designated establishments receive various benefits, including exemption from hygiene inspections during the designation period, provision of hygiene grade signboards and incentives, loans for facility and equipment repairs and maintenance, and promotional support through posting the list of designated establishments on provincial and city/county websites.
A representative from the Food Safety Division stated, “We will continue to make steady efforts to increase the designation rate of the hygiene grading system to ensure the safety of citizens’ dietary life,” and added, “We hope citizens will actively use hygiene grade designated establishments that have already been hygienically verified.”
