On the 17th, J-Hope was discharged from the Army's 36th Infantry Division Baekho Recruit Training Center in Wonju, Gangwon Province, and came out of the base around 10 a.m. after reporting his discharge. J-Hope, who enlisted in April last year, served as a drill instructor at the unit before being discharged.
From early morning, domestic and international press as well as a small number of ARMY from overseas countries such as China, Japan, and Brazil gathered in front of J-Hope's unit.
Earlier, Big Hit Music, the agency, announced, "There will be no separate event on the day of discharge, and to prevent safety accidents due to congestion, we earnestly ask fans to refrain from visiting the site." In response, banners and wrapping buses celebrating J-Hope's discharge were present at the scene, representing the fans' hearts.
Also, to celebrate J-Hope's discharge, BTS's eldest hyung Jin appeared holding a large bouquet of flowers, dressed in a red top and bottom with sunglasses, capturing everyone's attention. As J-Hope exited the guard post and raised his hand high to wave, Jin handed over the prepared bouquet to congratulate his younger brother's discharge, and the two smiled and linked arms, fitting together the puzzle pieces toward the complete group.

Afterwards, J-Hope walked out smiling in front of the press and fans, shouted "Loyalty!" and saluted to officially announce his discharge.
When J-Hope took the microphone to greet, Jin kneeled down and held the microphone under J-Hope, who was holding the microphone from the press, creating a humorous moment.
In his discharge greeting, J-Hope said, "I was discharged in good health. Thank you very much," expressing gratitude by saying, "Thanks to the fans, I was able to safely complete my military service."
He continued, "During the one year and six months of military service, I performed drill instructor duties and marched a lot, and I saw many citizens of Wonju (where I was stationed). Every time, I want to thank the citizens who greeted and supported the soldiers. It was very touching, and I don't know how to express such warm feelings," he said.
Furthermore, J-Hope added, "Soldiers are working hard and dedicating themselves to protect the country, and they are doing many things for the nation. I think it would be very meaningful if the public shows a lot of interest and love for those people."

Finally, J-Hope said, "Thank you for the great support, encouragement, and love. I was discharged in good health," and ended his greeting with a strong voice and a "Loyalty!" salute, which was met with applause.
Singing the military song "Jeonseoneul Ganda" ("Going to the Frontline") as he got into the vehicle, J-Hope did not forget to send a "hand kiss" fan service to the press and fans outside the car window until the moment he left.
Among BTS members, Jin, who was discharged in June, and J-Hope, who was discharged on this day, have completed their military service, while the other five members are currently fulfilling their military duties. RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are serving active duty, and Suga is working as a social service worker. The five members' discharges and releases from duty are scheduled to take place sequentially by June next year.
