The Democratic Party of Korea stated that it will "restore judicial justice through a special prosecutor" in response to the prosecution's decision not to indict First Lady Kim Geon-hee.
On the 17th, Cho Seung-rae, the senior spokesperson for the Democratic Party, expressed regret over the prosecution's decision not to indict Kim in connection with the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation case, saying, "The judicial order of the Republic of Korea has collapsed before First Lady Kim," and "The prosecution has ultimately granted Kim an exemption from suspicion regarding her involvement in the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation."

Spokesperson Cho pointed out, "Circumstantial evidence and proof showing that First Lady Kim Geon-hee was deeply involved in the stock manipulation have poured out for all to see," and "The prosecution thoroughly ignored the countless evidence and circumstances."
He criticized the prosecution's responsibility regarding this decision. Senior spokesperson Cho said, "Today, the prosecution clearly demonstrated that it does not have the qualification to monopolize the right to indict," adding, "The prosecution, which has thoroughly refused the responsibility to realize judicial justice entrusted by the people, has denied its own reason for existence. Now, no citizen will believe that the prosecution is fair before the law."
Spokesperson Cho stated, "The prosecution's exemption decision will serve as a catalyst for a special prosecutor," and "Now that the prosecution has ignored even the minimum judicial justice, only a special prosecutor can uncover the entire truth."
He mentioned that the Democratic Party reintroduced the special prosecutor bill related to First Lady Kim on the same day, warning, "If the Yoon Seok-yeol administration rejects even this, it will walk the path of ruin amid the people's disregard."
