Han Dong-hoon, who ended the losing streak against Yeo, demands "Kim's wife to halt activities and personnel reshuffle" in Yongsan

Victory in Busan Geumjeong Secures Public Support and Leadership
Han Dong-hoon "Will Lead Government and Ruling Party Reform"
Likely to Demand Resolution of Mrs. Kim Issue in Private Meeting with Yoon

Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party, succeeded in breaking the party's losing streak by defending Busan Geumjeong-gu and Incheon Ganghwa-gun in the October 16 by-elections. Based on this, Han demanded the presidential office to resolve the issue concerning First Lady Kim Keon-hee.

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the 17th, Han demanded a personnel reshuffle in the presidential office related to the First Lady, suspension of her external activities, and honest explanations and active cooperation in the investigation procedures regarding the raised suspicions. "Regardless of the truth, even if shameful or ugly aspects are revealed, we will uncover the truth. That is how the party will be reborn," he made it clear that he has no intention of stepping back.

Regarding Myung Tae-gyun, a key figure suspected of interfering in the First Lady’s nomination and accused of manipulating opinion polls during the last presidential primary, the party plans to propose the so-called 'Myung Tae-gyun Prevention Act' as a party policy on the same day. Han pointed out, "In Kim Eo-jun’s 'Opinion Poll Flower,' just before the election for Busan Geumjeong-gu mayor, the results showed the Democratic Party candidate leading the People Power Party candidate by a few percent," adding, "As you saw, the People Power Party won overwhelmingly by more than 22%." He emphasized, "The crisis of democracy is being brought about by manipulation of opinion polls. We must expose these acts thoroughly to the public and eradicate them."

Han’s intensified pressure on the First Lady is analyzed to stem from the confidence gained by winning the Busan Geumjeong election with an overwhelming vote margin after six visits. His election leadership, which had been a hindrance, was somewhat proven, providing an opportunity to strengthen his control over the party.

Han is also expected to strongly demand a resolution to the First Lady issue during his upcoming one-on-one meeting with President Yoon Seok-yeol early next week. Han stressed, "The idea that change and reform would give the opposition an excuse to destroy the constitution is wrong," and added, "I will take the lead in reforming and changing the government and ruling party to boldly confront the opposition’s attempts to destroy the constitution."

Meanwhile, Han officially apologized regarding Moon Heon-il, the former mayor of Guro-gu who voluntarily resigned instead of placing his stocks in a blind trust two days ago. He said, "I officially apologize. There should be no one in the People Power Party who treats public office as a side job."
