Electric Car Priced Around 10 Million KRW Released... Casper EV Base Model Launched

Hyundai Motor Company has launched the Casper Electric base model priced in the 10 million KRW range, including government subsidies. This move aims to revitalize the electric vehicle market, where demand has been slowing, by offering a more affordable electric car.

On the 17th, Hyundai announced the introduction of the Casper Electric base model called the 'Premium Trim.' Previously, only the long-range Inspiration trim was available, but now the Premium trim has been added to expand consumer choices.

The selling price of the Premium trim is set at 27.4 million KRW after tax benefits. With additional subsidies from the government and local authorities, it is expected that the purchase price could be in the 10 million KRW range depending on the region.

The Casper Electric base model is equipped with a 42 kWh ternary (NCM) battery produced by the Hyundai Motor Group-LG Energy Solution joint venture, providing a driving range of 278 km on a single charge. Although the driving range is shorter than the existing long-range trim, the launch price is about 2.5 million KRW lower.

At the same time, customer-preferred features such as a 10.25-inch navigation system and an electronic parking brake are included as standard, along with additional safety features like Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA).

Meanwhile, Hyundai also launched a facelifted model of the internal combustion engine Casper on the same day. Returning as a facelift model after three years, the Casper retains its iconic design while enhancing product appeal with customer-preferred convenience and safety features.

The new Casper includes advanced driver assistance features rarely found in its class, such as Highway Driving Assist (HDA), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), intersection and oncoming vehicle detection, and Smart Cruise Control with stop-and-go functionality. A button-type outside door handle switch was added to the front passenger door to improve convenience when opening and closing the door. An electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function that maintains braking when stopped was added to enhance driving and parking convenience.

Additionally, the infotainment system features a 10.25-inch navigation screen and wireless navigation updates (OTA). Rearview monitors and full-auto air conditioning, previously optional, are now standard. The facelifted Casper’s selling price starts at 14.6 million KRW for the base Smart trim model and 14.5 million KRW for the van model Smart trim.
