NH Nonghyup Bank, First in Financial Sector to Offer Bio Air Ticket Service

Expansion from Gimpo Airport to 14 Airports Nationwide

On the 17th, NH Nonghyup Bank announced that it had launched a domestic bio boarding pass service the previous day in collaboration with Korea Airports Corporation, becoming the first in the financial sector to do so.

Previously, passengers could use the bio boarding gate after presenting their boarding pass and completing a three-step process including identity verification via QR code and palm authentication. With the bio boarding pass, boarding through the bio gate is possible with just the bio boarding pass and palm authentication. After customers reserve and purchase their tickets and complete mobile check-in before boarding, the bio boarding pass is automatically linked and can be viewed through the NH All One Bank application (app).

Residents who are Korean nationals aged 14 or older can visit any Nonghyup Bank branch nationwide to register their palm information and then use the service through NH All One Bank.

Korea Airports Corporation plans to first apply the bio boarding pass at Gimpo Airport and then expand it to 14 airports nationwide. Currently, partner airlines include eight domestic carriers: Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Jin Air, T’way Air, Eastar Jet, Jeju Air, Air Seoul, and Hi Air.

In May 2021, NH Nonghyup Bank and Korea Airports Corporation launched the ‘NH Son Hanaro Boarding Service,’ which provided identity verification using biometric information without presenting an ID card.

An NH Nonghyup Bank official stated, “We opened the bio boarding pass service as the first in the financial sector to provide customers with a more convenient and secure authentication service,” adding, “We will continue to expand lifestyle financial services that customers need.”
