Mayor Donghwan Lee Emphasizes the Role of Goyang Economic Free Zone Designation and Investment Attraction Committee

Lee Dong-hwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, is speaking at the "2024 Second Half Goyang City Investment Attraction Committee" meeting held on the 16th.

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 17th that it held the 2024 second half 'Goyang City Investment Attraction Committee' meeting on the 16th at the Goyang City Hall main conference room, where they specifically discussed investment attraction plans for large-scale development zones in Goyang City.

The Goyang City Investment Attraction Committee consists of a total of 25 members, including Chairman Lee Jeong-hwa, the 2nd Vice Mayor, and 17 private experts related to investment attraction.

This meeting was the second following the June meeting, organized to share the current status of the designation of the Goyang Free Economic Zone and investment attraction achievements, the enforcement rules of the 'Goyang City Investment Attraction Promotion Ordinance,' and to discuss investment attraction plans for large-scale development zones such as Ilsan Technovalley.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City stated, "On the 11th, our city was designated as a 'Venture Business Promotion Zone' by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the first in northern Gyeonggi Province, allowing venture companies to receive various tax reduction benefits and support." He added, "This will not only be an important turning point in establishing Goyang City's innovation ecosystem but will also have a positive effect on the designation of the Goyang Free Economic Zone."

He continued, "As seen in the public opinion survey conducted for citizens on the 2nd anniversary of the 8th elected administration, more than 21% of Goyang citizens eagerly await the promotion of the Free Economic Zone designation with one heart. Therefore, the advice and active support of the Investment Attraction Committee members are greatly needed."

Chairman Lee Jeong-hwa, the 2nd Vice Mayor, urged the Investment Attraction Committee members to play a leading role in directly attracting leading domestic and international companies to Goyang City.

Meanwhile, Goyang Special City is building a foundation for investment attraction through the designation of various special zones such as the Goyang Free Economic Zone and the improvement of corporate support systems, while moving closer to realizing a self-sufficient city by signing investment intention and business agreements with domestic and international companies and institutions.
